Ravens Give Lamar Jackson Much-Needed Offensive Help With WR Zay Flowers
It has been a good day for the Baltimore Ravens as the long, drawn-out Lamar Jackson contract saga finally ended, with the quarterback putting pen to paper in a five-year, $260 million deal.
And the good news keeps on coming as the Ravens took Zay Flowers with the No.22 pick in the draft. With Jackson signing long-term and Odell Beckham Jr. in Baltimore for at least one season, the Ravens' offense gets some serious firepower.
Flowers had a career year for Boston College as the playmaking receiver totaled 1,077 yards and 12 touchdowns.
With the Ravens primarily a run-first team, having weapons in Flowers, Beckham Jr., and tight end Mark Andrews, Baltimore has a wealth of options available for Jackson to utilize.
Seen as one of the best receivers in the draft when in the open field, many expect Flowers to be used out of the slot by offensive coordinator Todd Monken. Getting the ball out quickly and allowing him to do work in open space could help him create explosive plays in the Ravens' new offensive system.
Not to forget Baltimore's running game which will no doubt open up throwing lanes for Jackson to exploit with Flowers. ,
His athleticism and ability to work back to his quarterback when a play breaks down are his best qualities. Given that Flowers isn't the most physically imposing receiver, but out of the slot, the Ravens have weapons that can hit you from anywhere.
It has been a superb 24 hours for the Ravens as Jackson finally put pen to paper on a new deal, and now with Flowers, the once bare offensive cupboard is brimming with talent that is the envy of most of the NFL.
