NFL Mock Draft: Ravens Select Playmaking WR Zay Flowers
The Baltimore Ravens have made no secret in their desire to acquire a star receiver this offseason. The term "fairly active" has been used when discussing Baltimore's willingness to add offensive talent.
There have been reports of the franchise targeting DeAndre Hopkins and Courtland Sutton, while per Josina Anderson of CBS Sports, a "competitive" offer has been put forth for Odell Beckham Jr.
So, while that remains in play, CBS Sports' latest mock draft has the Ravens adding to that receiver theme with Boston College standout Zay Flowers being taken in the first round.
"Make that two first-round WRs in three years for the Ravens, who entice Lamar Jackson to stick around by giving him another offensive weapon in Zay Flowers," CBS writes."
The speedy receiver had a career-best season with Boston College, racking up 1,077 yards and 12 touchdowns on 78 receptions. That kind of production would be welcomed in Baltimore.
Flowers has great athleticism, and one of his key traits is being able to work back to his quarterback. In Baltimore's offense with Jackson or even Tyler Huntley, the ability to give your quarterback an option downfield is a big weapon. Flowers has that.
Additionally, Flowers is as slippery as they come once in open space and is often difficult to bring down. That is something the Ravens' offense missed dearly last season.
He does have some flaws as he isn't the most physically imposing receiver and thus may get bumped off the ball in contested catch situations and needs to "sell" his routes a little better, but overall, the Ravens selecting Flowers would be a good addition.
If Baltimore can sign either Beckham Jr., Sutton or Hopkins and then add Flowers, the once one-dimensional offense suddenly has multiple weapons.
