Courtland Sutton or DeAndre Hopkins? Ravens Being 'Fairly Active' in Receiver Market Says NFL Analyst
The Baltimore Ravens aren't gaining any ground in the pursuit of signing Lamar Jackson long-term, but that isn't stopping the franchise from going after some serious offensive firepower.
Per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the Ravens are "looking" at the possibility of going after a top receiver in the form of either Denver Bronco Courtland Sutton or Arizona Cardinal DeAndre Hopkins.
"The Ravens have been fairly active in the wide receiver market Fowler wrote. "They've looked into Beckham. I've heard the same for DeAndre Hopkins and Courtland Sutton. They seem open to potentially adding a quality outside receiver, whether Jackson is in the lineup or not."
It appears that Baltimore is actively looking at trying to bring in a star receiver. But which one they could go for will make for interesting viewing.
Sutton is younger than Hopkins and wouldn't command top draft pick compensation to get the deal done. But when talking about Hopkins, he is a star receiver who is a known commodity and will need at least a second-rounder to get a deal done, and the Ravens can build around him.
His salary will be a sticking point, but as he mentioned, he is flexible on his contract terms, which currently have him earning an average of around $17 million APY for the next two seasons.
With Jackson's contract situation showing no signs of getting done, Baltimore doesn't appear to be hamstrung in trying to get a star receiver in the door.
A "competitive" offer was reportedly laid out for Odell Beckham Jr. per CBS Sports' Josina Anderson, and now with the rumors that the Ravens are interested in either Sutton or Hopkins, the franchise seems intent on acquiring some top receiver talent.
Just who that will be is anyone's guess.
