While the Ravens continue to try and reach a long-term deal with Lamar Jackson, they are all eyeing the draft for his potential replacement if negotiations go awry.

GM Eric DeCosta was recently at the NFL Combine and will beat the Senior Bowl scouting players.

The quarterbacks are on his radar.

“I was trained as a scout; I started out as a scout,” DeCosta said. “That’s kind of what my development was, as [a scout]. So, I scout everybody anyways. I don’t really short-change [scouting]. I love football, I love the art of evaluation. I’m going to look at all the top players, I’m going to do the top 150 players in every single Draft class, and I’ve done that.”

One player already being linked to the Ravens is Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson. Even if Jackson stays on Baltimore’s roster under the franchise tag, Richardson is an intriguing prospect the team could groom to become the eventual starter.

However, the Ravens might have to trade up to grab Richardson after his performance at the Combine.

He led all quarterbacks in the 40-yard dash, broad jump, and vertical jump. Richardson’s 40-yard dash time of 4.43 caught also was impressive and he is now drawing companions to Bills quarterback Josh Allen.

Last season, Richardson (6-foot-4, 231 pounds) finished with 2,549 passing yards, 17 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. He also had 654 rushing yards and another nine scores.

The Ravens would have to trade up to snag Richardson and that will be difficult with just five selections in the upcoming draft, If Jackson is traded for draft picks, his future in Baltimore could become an almost certainty.

Another quarterback to watch is Kentucky’s Will Levis, who threw for 2,406 yards with 19 touchdowns and 10 interceptions for a 151.9 quarterback rating.

Levis (6-3, 222 pounds) has the size and arm strength to thrive in the NFL.

The quarterback position is intriguing or the Ravens this offseason.

DeCosta is keeping his options open.

“I look at the top guys in free agency,” DeCosta said. “I enjoy it, and so for me, that’s not something that changes year to year; that’s just a part of the process. To build a Draft board, you have to look at the players, [and] you have to evaluate the players. Someone has to do it; I would rather have it be me than somebody else.”
