'Lamar Lite!' Jackson's Ringing Endorsement of New Baltimore Ravens' QB Malik Cunningham

With similar skills and backgrounds, Baltimore Ravens' star Lamar Jackson is excited about new quarterback Malik Cunningham: "He can do it all!"

With Lamar Jackson, Tyler Huntley, Josh Johnson and newly signed Malik Cunningham, the Baltimore Ravens might have the fastest, most athletic quarterback room in NFL history. According to Jackson, it's a group that's not bad at football, either.

The Ravens have customized their entire offensive philosophy around the unique skill-set of Jackson, the NFL's 2019 MVP. And they continue to fortify it, confirmed by this week's signing of the similarly skilled Cunningham off the New England Patriots' practice squad.

Jackson and Cunningham played together at Louisville in 2017. And back in August when Malik dazzled in a preseason game in Foxboro, Lamar congratulated him on social media with "Broski."

"Great quarterback," Jackson said of his new teammate. "I’ve seen it first-hand when he was a freshman at Louisville. Obviously had to watch some of his high school highlights because that’s what we do. We love watching each other play football. He's explosive. Can throw the ball anywhere down the field, make guys miss. He can do it all."

A "Lamar Lite," with the Patriots Cunningham was also learning to play receiver and special teams. Bill Belichick gave him a record signing bonus as an undrafted free agent and then at one point signed him to a three-year contract. But Malik never got a real a chance, despite New England's historically horrible offense. He played only six snaps this season, getting sacked for a 5-yard loss out of the shotgun.

Baltimore Ravens Ready For 'Playoff Like' Environment In Final Four Games

Cunningham arrives in Baltimore as the fourth quarterback on the depth chart. (Or perhaps the anchor leg of a spiffy 4x100 relay team?). He also, in a blink, went from a 3-10 team eliminated from the playoffs to a 10-3 team eyeing a No. 1 seed in the postseason.

So Lamar's ringing endorsement is just the cherry on top of his successful sundae.
