Ravens Lamar Jackson Reveals Playoff Bye Week 'Focus'

The Baltimore Ravens have a first-round bye as the playoffs begin but quarterback Lamar Jackson isn't letting his focus drop.
In this story:

The Baltimore Ravens will be sitting back and watching the first round of the playoffs intently from the couch thanks to securing the No. 1 seed in the AFC.

With the other AFC teams now locked in a win-or-go-home game, the Ravens won't play until the Divisional Round, and that means plenty of time to self-scout.

For quarterback Lamar Jackson, this week is all about the little details as he gears up for his first playoff game since 2020.

“Just getting better," Jackson said "We had a couple days off but just getting back in the swing of things, just staying loose you, staying prepared for the game next week. that's all, just staying focused on that small things clean up details and stuff like that.”

The Ravens will enter the playoffs with a great chance to at least make the AFC Championship game, which would be in Baltimore should they make it.

But the demons of 2019 where the Ravens had the No. 1 seed in the AFC and were undone by the Tennessee Titans 28-12 are still in the minds of fans.

Now, the Ravens have pressure on them to make sure history doesn't repeat itself and for Jackson, who has a 1-3 playoff record, many want to see him play the MVP-caliber football we have seen in the regular season when it matters most.

But what is different for Lamar this time heading into the playoffs compared to the 2019 campaign?

“Experience, he said. "I'm going just knowing more, just from seeing so much in my six years, just seeing a lot I say that's where I've grown the most.”

That "growth" will be beneficial to Jackson and the Ravens as they look to take advantage of their seeding and punch their ticket to the Super Bowl.

But for now, the Ravens have to sit on their hands and watch the other six AFC teams battle it out, and Jackson will be going over the finer details of his game.

Baltimore earned the right to a first-round bye, but they must make the most of it and it seems like Lamar certainly is.
