Ravens Tyler Huntley Named Top 10 in Backup QB Power Rankings

Tyler Huntley showed last season how valuable of a backup quarterback he is for the Ravens.

One of the storylines that dominated the offseason was the contract dispute between the Baltimore Ravens and quarterback Lamar Jackson. Luckily for both, they were able to come to terms on a deal and keep Jackson in Baltimore.

While Jackson will remain a Raven this fall and for the foreseeable future, he was not the only quarterback that Baltimore got a deal done with this offseason. Rather, the Ravens also managed to retain his backup Tyler Huntley.

Having a quality backup is crucial, as Baltimore saw last season when Huntley went 2-2 as a starter due to a Jackson injury. His ability to keep the team afloat landed Huntley at No. 8 in Gilberto Manzano's backup quarterback rankings for Sports Illustrated.

"Say what you want about Huntley making the Pro Bowl last season, but there’s no denying that he’s been a quality backup while filling in for Lamar Jackson the past two seasons," Manzano wrote.

"Huntley did enough in 2022 to keep the team afloat and helped the Ravens push the Bengals in their wild-card matchup. The quarterback known as “Snoop” has command of the offense with a career passing percentage of 65.6."

In his appearances for the Ravens last season Huntley did what he needed to do, throwing for 658 yards and two touchdowns while adding 137 yards and a score on the ground.

Without Huntley's performance when his number was called there is a chance that the Ravens could have missed the playoffs last season. He more than earned his spot in the top 10, and will once again be a vital member of Baltimore's offense this season.
