Baltimore Ravens Take 10-3 Lead On Los Angeles Chargers After Solid First Half
The scoreboard may not do it justice, but the Baltimore Ravens controlled most of the first half of Sunday night's game against the Los Angeles Chargers en route to a 10-3 lead at halftime.
L.A. drew first blood with a field goal on the opening drive, but since then, it's been almost all Baltimore. With 10 unanswered points on offense and allowing just 16 total yards in the next three drives on defense, the Ravens settled in and were able to control the flow of play.
Helping the Ravens' cause was the fact that they forced key fumbles on back-to-back drives at the end of the half. Roquan Smith stripped Keenan Allen for the first one, while Patrick Queen got the second at the expense of Austin Ekeler. Unfortunately for Baltimore, capitalizing on those turnovers proved difficult as the Ravens only scored a lone field goal in that time.
Lamar Jackson finished the first half with 12 completions on 18 attempts for 115 yards and a touchdown while adding a team-high 25 yards on the ground. Isaiah Likely, the Ravens' new top tight end with Mark Andrews out, led the way receiving with four catches for 40 yards, while Zay Flowers scored the second touchdown of his young career and the first in the U.S.
For L.A., Justin Herbert completed nine of 13 passes for 79 yards and an interception - which didn't really matter as it was on a Hail Mary at the end of the half. Allen was the Chargers' leading receiver with five catches for 35 yards.
The Ravens will get the ball to start the second half, hoping to make the scoreboard better reflect the state of the game.
