WATCH: Baltimore WR Zay Flowers Gives Ravens Lead vs. Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday Night Football
Rookie wide receiver Zay Flowers put the Baltimore Ravens ahead of the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday Night Football.
At the end of the first quarter, the Ravens trailed the Chargers 3-0 after being forced to punt on their first drive of the game.
Quarterback Lamar Jackson then led Baltimore on a 12-play, 78-yard drive that took up 6:21 seconds and ended with him finding Flowers in the back of the end zone for a 3-yard touchdown.
The touchdown catch was the second of Flowers' young NFL career, but his first on American soil. His first career touchdown came in a 24-16 win over the Tennessee Titans in London as a part of the NFL's international series.
As a rookie, Flowers has been a strong addition for the Ravens' offense. The 23-year-old wide receiver has recorded 55 receptions for 594 yards and two touchdowns.
Baltimore drafted Flowers with the No. 22 overall pick in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft after a very accomplished career with Boston College.
Flowers and other receivers on the team will have to step up and shoulder a larger workload with tight end Mark Andrews now out for the remainder of the regular season after suffering an ankle injury against the Cincinnati Bengals.
