Mark Andrews Injury 'Big Hit' to Ravens Says Odell Beckham Jr.
The Baltimore Ravens moved to 8-3 on the season after their 34-20 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, but it came at a huge cost. All-Pro tight end Mark Andrews was lost for the season after suffering an ankle injury on the game's first drive.
With the Ravens now having one of the best records in the NFL and with playoffs most certainly in sight now, the team will make to make do without one of its biggest weapons.
For Odell Beckham Jr., who has dealt with his fair share of injury setbacks, the injury to Andrews is tough to swallow.
“It's just tough,” Beckham Jr. said. “It's the hardest part about this game, these guys put in endless hours of work, rehab, the things that people don't see, they only see the final product. For a guy like Mark, he's in the training room he's always getting he's getting his work he's you know in the weight room, so it's just tough, just as brothers you got to be there for him. I've been through it, it's not easy. It's very unfortunate, it's a big hit for this team, Mark has been a intrical part of this team since him and Lamar have been here so we just got to find a way to step up.”
Well, the one positive to come out of the game is once Andrews left the game, others did step up, including Odell, who had his best game of the season as he hauled in four catches for 116 yards in what was a reminder that he still has juice in his legs.
It had been a slow start for Beckham Jr. to start his Baltimore career, but over the last couple of weeks, he is starting to find the consistency he craved.
In his last three games, he has receiving totals of 56, 40, and 116 along with back-to-back games with a touchdown grab as his form line is starting to trend upward.
“Just keeping my head down continuing to work,” Beckham Jr. said. “Early on in the season, I was hurting I just couldn't be myself I didn't have the explosion, I couldn't move the way that I wanted to. I don't think people really knew what I was dealing with, and it just was hard for me to come out and speak on it nor will I speak on it. Now, it's just more about moving forward, being the very best that I could be for this team, and how I can make plays to help us get wins.”
With the Andrews injury hitting like a ton of bricks, others will now have to step up and fill the void left by the All-Pro tight end.
The likes of Odell, Zay Flowers, Nelson Agholor, Isaiah Likely, and running backs Keaton Mitchell and Gus Edwards will all need increased production.
They covered for Andews against Cincinnati, but now the challenge is to do it for the rest of the season.
