Ravens Ex Matt Birk Shares Incredible Weight-Loss Story

Former Baltimore Raven Matt Birk looks unrecognizable following weight loss journey.

Super Bowl Champion and former Baltimore Ravens center Matt Birk looks indistinguishable after losing 75 pounds and 10 inches from his waistline. The 46-year-old has completed an unbelievable body transformation following a 14-year career in the National Football League.

While in the league, Birk spent time as a member of both the Ravens and Minnesota Vikings. Birk weighed about 310 pounds during his football career and knew it was time for a change when he hung up the cleats.

"All I knew was being big … Now I’m not so big and I’m loving it,” Birk told BaltimoreRavens.com after retiring in 2013. "I think I’ve really developed a lifestyle that I can sustain now.”

Birk changed his lifestyle after he revealed he had been suffering health issues due to bad eating habits. According to the New York Post, the former Raven used to put down two burrito bowls every night for dinner which played a part in developing varicose veins. Varicose veins occur when weakened valves are twisted and enlarged which puts more pressure on the veins.

Birk looks like a completely different human being now, and he is letting everyone know.

"It really has changed my life that I used to know,” Birk said. “I feel great physically, and I’ve got tons of energy.”

Birk was a member of the Vikings from 1998-2008 and spent 2009-12 with Baltimore where he helped the Ravens win Super Bowl XLVII. The six-time pro bowler earned two All-Pro selections and was awarded the NFL’s Walter Payton Award in 2011 for his excellence on the field and community service.
