Baltimore Ravens Move Into No. 1 Seed In AFC After Kansas City Chiefs Loss

The Baltimore Ravens became the one seed in the AFC after the Kansas City Chiefs lost to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Fans of two different bird teams were ecstatic when the Philadelphia Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 21-17 on Monday Night Football. 

With Kansas City's loss, the Baltimore Ravens moved into sole possession of first place in the AFC at 8-3. The Chiefs, now 7-3, joined a tie with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Miami Dolphins and Cleveland Browns for second place. 

The Chiefs struggled offensively in the game against the Eagles, failing to score a single point in the second half in the four-point loss. This has been a concerning trend for the defending Super Bowl champions who have now not scored a point in the second half in three-straight games. Going back five games, they have scored just 13 total points in the second half.

For the Ravens, the news of another contender in the AFC struggling will always be welcomed. Behind the MVP-caliber season that quarterback Lamar Jackson is having, Baltimore has positioned itself as a serious contender to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl. 

Specifically, the Ravens' defense has been such a strong factor in their success this season. The defensive unit ranks second in the NFL in points allowed per game at 16.1, third in the NFL in yards allowed per game at 273.5 and first in the NFL in sacks with 44. 

Elite Safety Duo Leading Ravens Defense

The defense combined with Jackson's stellar season has put Baltimore in a position to succeed, and now it holds control of the one seed in the AFC. 

The Ravens will travel to Los Angeles to face Justin Herbert and the Chargers on Nov. 26 at 8:20 p.m.
