Ravens Lamar Jackson’s 'Under The Radar' Weapon

The Baltimore Ravens have many offensive weapons, but Lamar Jackson wants to keep one receiver away from the spotlight.
In this story:

Throughout the offseason, the Baltimore Ravens offense was headlined by the signing of Odell Beckham Jr. and the drafting of Zay Flowers, but after Sunday's 27-24 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, another receiver has popped up - Nelson Agholor.

Agholor, a former Philadelphia Eagle and New England Patriot was a free agency addition to the Baltimore offense that received little to no fanfare, but after his five rec, 65 yards, and a touchdown against the Bengals, he might be getting known rather quickly.

But his quarterback, Lamar Jackson, wants to keep Agholor away from the spotlight.

“I like to keep him under the radar,” Jackson said jokingly. “He had a pretty good game, I don’t want any hype going his way; keep it under the radar and keep doing what he’s doing. He has [been superb], we been connecting here on the field pretty much the whole offseason, and it showed this past Sunday.”

Agholor is just one of a host of weapons at Jackson's disposal, and despite many labeling the Ravens offense as one of the most explosive in the NFL during training camp, it didn't get off to the best start.

Learning Todd Monken's more pass-orientated offense was always going to take time, and while Baltimore secured a 25-9 win over the Houston Texans in Week 1, the offensive performance was rather clunky.

But, with another week of preparation, the Ravens offense clicked into gear against the Bengals, and Jackson attributes the offensive success down to one simple thing: just building that rapport with each other.

“Just being week two,” Jackson said. “Our second game, just playing alongside each other and just building chemistry within the game.”

With the offense now seemingly finding its feet under Monken, many are hoping for an even better performance on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.

Every weapon at Jackson's disposal has gotten targets through the first two weeks, and if Agholor keeps putting out tape as he did on Sunday, opposing defenses won't have to worry about Beckham Jr. and Flowers anymore; it will be Agholor whose name will be circled on the whiteboard.

Under the radar? Maybe not for much longer.
