Ravens' Odell Beckham Jr. Signing: Super Bowl Odds Skyrocket
Suddenly, things are looking up for the Baltimore Ravens ... at least in the eyes of the oddsmakers.
The signing of receiver Odell Beckham Jr. - done in conjunction, as we were first to note, with an assumption of a return to the Ravens fold by OBJ buddy Lamar Jackson - caused Super Bowl talk between the two stars.
And it's done the same with the wiseguys.
Hopefully, OBJ’s arrival will convince Jackson to stay (and, in fairness, convince Ravens management to pay him to stay). And another hope ... as the transaction has also seemingly bolstered the Ravens' chances to win the Super Bowl.
Before the Ravens stole OBJ from the New York Jets (who seemed to think they had an inside track) with a one-year deal worth $15 million, their Super Bowl odds at FanDuel were at +2800.
And now? Baltimore’s odds are improved to +2100.
That doesn't quite make them the Kansas City Chiefs or Philadelphia Eagles, last year's Super Bowl finalists who are favored to again be at the top of the heap. But it's a jump for the Ravens to where they are tied for the eighth-best odds to hoist the Vince Lombardi Trophy after the 2023 campaign.
The roster-building isn't done, and Lamar isn't signed, and odds aren't the be-all/end-all. But the Ravens have taken a positive step by signing a player in Beckham who helped the Rams win the Super Bowl a year ago ... and surely Ravens fans are happy that the oddsmakers view it so positively.
