Ravens Odell Beckham Jr.: 'I'm my Biggest Critic!'

Baltimore Ravens receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is making good progress from his ACL injury in training camp, and his standards in Todd Monken's offense are still at an all-time high.

Baltimore Ravens receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is adjusting to his new surroundings with aplomb. As a member of Todd Monken's new vertical-style offense, many think it's a great match.

Beckham Jr. is still learning the Monken playbook as he looks to get ready for Week 1 vs. the Houston Texans, and he has come away with one overriding thought about the Ravens' new offensive style under Monken.

“I definitely think he wants to throw the ball,” Beckham Jr. said. “We got a lot of talented guys who, I think just finding ways to get the playmakers the ball in their hands and being an explosive offense. I think that’s what stands out the most.

“I think this will be an explosive offense, I think that’s the goal, to be explosive.”

With the Ravens having two joint practices against the Washington Commanders, both of which have now been completed, it was Beckham’s in first taste of action against other NFL talent in over 900 days.

Naturally, the competitive juices were flowing as there is likely a want to show that he is still "that guy," and that means Beckham Jr.'s standards that he sets for himself are still incredibly high despite being out for so long.

“I still care for this game deeply, I’ve always been a perfectionist, "Beckham Jr. said. "So little things will definitely piss me off if I don’t catch a pass or I feel like I could have run a better route, I’m still my biggest critic.”

In true Beckham Jr. fashion, it didn't take him long to add to his already impressive highlight reel as he hauled in a superb diving one-handed catch during practice to gently remind those who doubt him that he still has gas in the tank.

Just how much gas is in the tank is unknown, but going by his efforts vs. the Commanders' defense, there are still plenty of miles to be driven this season.
