'Rome Wasn't Built In A Day!' OBJ, Ravens Focused On Bigger Picture
The Baltimore Ravens played far from their best game in Week 1 against the Houston Texans and still came away with a 25-9 win.
In a couple weeks no one will care about the Ravens' sluggish first win because, at the end of the day, it's important to play your best football at the end of the season. Arguably, no one understands that concept better in the Ravens' locker room than Super Bowl Champion wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.
"We had a good, first sloppy game, and we still put up 25 points," Beckham said. "There's room for improvement, and that's just how you have to look at it. I think this week was a lot better week as far as being locked in with each other and on assignments, and you just got to know that the sky is the limit with that. We'll go as far as we want to go. I feel like it was a much better week. Rome wasn't built in a day."
This week is as important of a week as ever for the Ravens, playing an in-division opponent in the Cincinnati Bengals. Beckham understands the importance of winning the AFC North matchups after playing two and a half seasons with the Cleveland Browns.
"Definitely tough, physical football," Beckham said. "I've been on the other side and seen it. (I'm) just excited that this is a very important game within the division. We always used to say it counts for two. Very small things: know what your assignment is and do your role to the best of your ability. Everything else will handle itself."
Beckham was the Ravens' second-best receiver Sunday against the Texans, hauling two passes for 37 yards. However, against the Bengals, Beckham has had his way.
In four games in which he has recorded at least one reception, Beckham has caught 19 passes for 291 yards and three touchdowns against Cincinnati.
He will have a chance to add to that running total Sunday, as the Ravens head to Cincinnati to play the Bengals at 1 p.m. on CBS.
