Ravens Had 'Everything Going' in Win vs. Bengals

The Baltimore Ravens offense got going against the Cincinnati Bengals after sputtering in Week 1 against the Houston Texans.

What a difference a week makes. The Baltimore Ravens offense under Todd Monken stuttered along in the 25-9 win over the Houston Texans in Week 1, but against division rivals the Cincinnati Bengals, things were clicking.

The 27-24 win for the Ravens handed the Bengals their second consecutive season starting 0-2 as Lamar Jackson and the offense got rolling.

For Judy Battista, Jackson looked in total control of Monken's offense on Sunday.

“They looked fantastic,” Battista said on The Insiders on NFL Network. “[Lamar Jackson] He looked so comfortable just sitting in the pocket, surveying the field. Of course you can do that when the Bengals are getting absolutely no pressure. So, the offensive line that was down two starters did a terrific job, they were doing a great job run blocking too. The Ravens had everything going. They were running the ball effectively, he was spreading the ball around, he had tremendous touch on his passes, the touchdown to Agholor was a beautiful pass.

“If that’s the way the offense is going to look for the rest of the season, it looked perfect. Lamar looked so confident, so comfortable, and just so completely in command of the offense.”

After the clunky performance against the Texans, it was a much cleaner effort against the Bengals in what is always a tough outing.

Baltimore now moves to 2-0 on the season as the offense looks to be finding its groove and the defense has continued to make plays.

For coach John Harbaugh, he was pleased with the win, while also hinting that there are a lot of things still to clean up.

“Proud of the victory,” Harbaugh said. “Happy with the way we played, [we will] go back and study the tape, lot of great things, so many great things that led to a victory in a hostile environment against a division rival, very good football team. But also, things that we can work on, so many things that we can get better at, work on that we’ll go to work on this week to try and get pointed to next week which will be a bigger challenge.”

There has been a lot of change for the Ravens over the offseason and things feel like they are starting to move in a positive direction.

Battista called the Ravens offense "perfect" and while there is no such thing, getting close to perfection and going 3-0 would be good enough at this early stage in the season.
