Ravens Offense 'On Right Track' Under Todd Monken Says Lamar Jackson
The Baltimore Ravens, on paper, have one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL...or so many thought.
Through the first five weeks, performances by coordinator Todd Monken's unit have been inconsistent, which has played a role in Baltimore's 3-2 record.
But despite struggling for consistency, quarterback Lamar Jackson knows the unit is going in the right direction.
"I believe we’re headed to the right track,” Jackson said via the team's official website. “Each and every week, we’ve been having explosive plays, but we haven’t been consistent. That’s the biggest emphasis right now. I believe on Sunday, in London, there will be a lot of explosive plays, and hopefully, we’ll be consistent.”
Changing from a run-heavy offensive scheme under Greg Roman to a more pass-oriented offense like Monken's, naturally, there will be a period of adjustment.
While getting used to a new scheme can be challenging, the Ravens sit at 3-2 and, one could argue, could be 5-0 had they nailed the door shut on the Indianapolis Colts and Pittsburgh Steelers.
But how does Jackson feel as he comes to grips with Monken's scheme?
“I believe I’m adapting well,” Jackson said. “I’m making checks, hitting my guys in the numbers, and those guys catch and run, and what I’ve been trying to practice on throughout this process with having a new system. But just got to be more consistent. All of us.”
Consistency is key for all NFL teams, and for the Ravens, while it isn't at the level wanted just yet, they are still producing good moments during games but are just finding it hard to put teams away.
Facing a Tennessee Titans team in London, Jackson and the Ravens will look to bounce back after last week's loss, with offensive consistency the key to getting back on the winner's list.
