Ravens Offense 'Moving in Right Direction'
The Baltimore Ravens are going through some offensive changes this offseason, with Todd Monken's new scheme being top of the list. Monken's more vertical-style offense is now being implemented and the Ravens look poised to be more attacking through the air this season.
It is a big change in how the offense now operates as under Greg Roman, it was a run-heavy offense, but Lamar Jackson and co are doing their best to come to grips with the change.
So, how is the installation going?
“I feel like we moving along in the right direction, we’re processing everything fast,” Jackson said via the team's official website. “Our guys are ready, everyone got something to prove.”
With several of the Ravens' attacking options having cloudy injury histories, the thought is that if they can remain healthy throughout the season, then Baltimore is a legitimate chance for the AFC.
The likes of the returning Rashod Bateman, Jackson, Nelson Agholor, and Odell Beckham Jr. have all had injury troubles in the last 12 months.
During practice at M&T Bank Stadium, Lamar hit Odell with a touchdown pass that was a thing of beauty...but what does Jackson think of his shiny new weapon?
“He makes my job a lot easier, I’m just happy to see him on the field,” Jackson said. “We got one of the best receivers in the game, I’m just glad he’s here.”
The collection of offensive talent is unlike anything Lamar has had at his disposal during his career and as such, the expectations are high.
Just what the offense under Monken can amount to this season is unknown, but excitement is high for what many hope will be a defining season for the Ravens in their quest for Super Bowl glory.
