Ravens OTs Ronnie Stanley, Morgan Moses Crack PFF's Positional Rankings
A good offensive line goes a long way in the NFL. A team can have all the talent it wants at skill positions, but it would all be for not without the big guys up front paving the way.
Building a good offensive line is hard, but for the Baltimore Ravens, they've been blessed with a strong one for most of their history. That continues even today, as they had one of the best offensive lines in football last season. According to ESPN, the Ravens had the highest run block win rate at 77% and the sixth-highest pass block win rate at 66%.
Much of that success is due to the offensive tackles, Ronnie Stanley on the left and Morgan Moses on the right. As a testament to their prowess, both players earned a spot on PFF's ranking of the top 32 offensive tackles in the NFL.
Stanley is the first to show up on the list, coming in at No. 12. The 2019 All-Pro selection has dealt with multiple injuries recently, but he's one of the best tackles in football when he's healthy.
"On his best day, Stanley is one of the most natural pass protectors in football, allowing just 10 total pressures on 543 pass-blocking snaps back in 2019," PFF writes. "It’s been a long road back from injury for the former sixth overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. He missed the bulk of the 2020 and 2021 seasons, but he looked close to being back to his best after returning to the field in Week 5 last season."
Moses isn't too far behind his teammate on the rankings, coming in at No. 20. The 32-year-old may not have a Pro Bowl to his name, but he has consistently been a solid lineman throughout his career. The 2022 season was Moses' first in Baltimore, and by all means, it was a successful one.
"While the down-to-down consistency isn’t always there with Moses, he was a dependable pass blocker for the Ravens over the course of the 2022 season and had some huge games as a run blocker, including three outings with a 90.0-plus PFF run-blocking grade," PFF writes.
The Ravens are one of nine teams to land both of their tackles on this list. The other eight are the Philadelphia Eagles, Minnesota Vikings, Detroit Lions, Denver Broncos, Atlanta Falcons, Indianapolis Colts, Dallas Cowboys and Las Vegas Raiders.
Additionally, a former Raven in Orlando Brown Jr. clocks in at No. 14 on the rankings. Brown was the premiere offensive lineman in free agency this offseason, and the Cincinnati Bengals were the lucky team to secure his services.
The Ravens have a lot of flash on offense with quarterback Lamar Jackson leading the way, but it all works thanks to their strong offensive line.
