Jalen Hurts Vs. Lamar Jackson: $200 Million Ravens Guaranteed Offer?
On the heels of the Philadelphia Eagles agreeing to a market-setting contract extension with quarterback Jalen Hurts, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport on Monday compared it to the ongoing negotiations between the Baltimore Ravens and Lamar Jackson.
Rapoport even reported that one of the offers that the Ravens made to their quarterback included $200 million guaranteed.
Rapoport's tidbit came during his appearance on the Pat McAfee show. He discussed a tweet from Sarah Ellison, who broke down Hurts' contract and the deal the Ravens offered Jackson back in September.
"I believe that includes a kicker that would've kicked in Year 2. But obviously, you're not going to cut him after one year, so I believe that is essentially the total guaranteed," Rapoport said via the Pat McAfee Show.
We know that Jackson declined that offer from the Ravens, but with Hurts now making himself the highest-paid quarterback at $255 million, which has over $174 million guaranteed, maybe Jackson will reconsider.
Hurts' new contract has reset the quarterback market once again, after DeShaun Watson did it last offseason with the Cleveland Browns. Jackson reportedly desires a deal that would surpass the $230 million in full guarantees that Watson received.
While no one knows what Hurts’ new deal will mean for the Ravens and Jackson, there seems to be a new sense of optimism after he reached out to the Ravens' newly-signed Odell Beckham Jr on social media … and with the pair talking Super Bowl.
But first? One more monster deal needs to get done.
