WATCH: Ravens Rashod Bateman Hauls in Lamar Jackson Dime
The Baltimore Ravens offense has been lauded by many and touted as one of the most explosive units in the NFL.
Of course, not a single down has been played, and while many gravitate towards Odell Beckham Jr. or Zay Flowers, there's another speed burner who is quietly going about his business - Rashod Bateman.
After spending time on the sidelines due to a foot injury, Bateman has been working back to full fitness and, in Ravens' practice, showed that he is almost full-go, hauling in a Lamar Jackson bomb as he got behind new Baltimore corner Ronald Darby in 7-on-7 drills.
It is a good sign that the Ravens have yet another speedy receiver to wreak havoc on opposing defenses this season.
As Bateman is making good strides on the practice fields, receivers coach Greg Lewis likes the progress Rashod is making as he looks to return to the fold sooner rather than later.
“He’s continuing to get comfortable within the offense,” Lewis said. “He’s getting an opportunity to progress and come out here and do 7-on-7 and individual drills, and he’s doing a fantastic job. Excited to see him out there, and we are just going to keep building as a group with him."
With the Ravens now coming to grips with Todd Monken's vertical-style offense, Baltimore can get at teams through the air or on the ground with Justice Hill, Gus Edwards, and hopefully J.K. Dobbins.
The Ravens, for some, are the sleeper in the AFC this season, and with Lamar now being given the keys to the offense and being allowed to do as he sees fit, Baltimore will be unpredictable. And that makes them a dangerous team to deal with.
Whether or not it all comes together as Monken and Co. envision it remains to be seen, but either way, football in Baltimore will be must-watch this season.
