Ravens Rashod Bateman 'Fantastic Job' Returning From Injury

Baltimore Ravens receiver Rashod Bateman is making his way back from injury, and receiver coach Greg Lewis is excited to see him on the practice field.
In this story:

Baltimore Ravens receiver Rashod Bateman has been a slow burn since his Pedal Lisfranc Sprain last season, which required surgery and ended his year.

After working through positional drills early in Ravens camp, Bateman found himself on the PUP list for mandatory minicamp and has been eased slowly into action.

For receivers coach Greg Lewis, Bateman is making good progress in his return to football.

“He’s continuing to get comfortable within the offense, he’s in all the meetings, understanding the language that we [are] speaking,” Lewis said. “He’s getting an opportunity to progress and come out here and do 7-on-7 and individual drills, and he’s doing a fantastic job. Excited to see him out there, and we are just going to keep building as a group with him."

With Bateman making positive strides over the last few weeks, adding him to an offense that is already brimming with talent is no doubt a tantalizing prospect for coordinator Todd Monken.

One big piece of that offense is rookie Zay Flowers.

Having impressed every member of the organization since he stepped onto the practice field, Flowers has gone from strength to strength. His superb route running, catching ability, and pure, raw speed have seen him terrorize the Ravens and Washington Commanders' defenses.

After assistant receivers coach Keith Williams praised Flowers' work ethic, Lewis echoed those sentiments and had huge praise for the rookie out of Boston College.

“Zay is a special talent, everybody sees that, and just to get him out there on the field doing things, understanding the offense has been awesome,” Lewis said. “Just continuing to grow with him, and when we get can him the ball, let’s get him the ball because he can do some special things.”

On paper, the Ravens have one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL, but as we know, that counts for little until the unit produces on the field.

With Baltimore having two more preseason games before their season opener against the Houston Texans, getting everyone on the same page is now front of mind.

There are a host of AFC teams who think of themselves as genuine Super Bowl contenders, and with their receiving talent coupled with a stout defense, sleep on the Ravens and Lamar Jackson's offense at your peril.
