Report: Ravens DC Mike Macdonald Expected to be Named Seahawks Head Coach
Entering Wednesday, there were just two head coaching vacancies left. By Wednesday afternoon, there was one.
After conducting a second interview with Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald, the Seahawks are reportedly expected to name him the ninth head coach in franchise history as reported by NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Seattle met with Macdonald on Tuesday in Baltimore before requesting an in-person second interview on Wednesday for a more exhaustive interview.
The 36-year-old Macdonald has served as the Ravens' defensive coordinator since 2022 after coming over from the Michigan Wolverines where he served in the same capacity under Baltimore coach John Harbaugh's brother, Jim.
Under Macdonald, the Ravens' defense finished the year No. 1 in points allowed and No. 6 in yards allowed in the NFL.
Three Needs For Ravens In Important 2024 Offseason
Macdonald first served in Baltimore in 2014 as a coaching intern and defensive backs coach before joining Jim Harbaugh in Michigan as a defensive coordinator in 2021.
Macdonald will reportedly replace Pete Carroll who joined Seattle in 2010 and won two NFC Championships, one Super Bowl, five NFC West titles and made 10 playoff appearances in 14 seasons.
