Ravens Sign Rams CB Jalen Ramsey? How it Could Happen
The 2023 NFL offseason is upon us which means it's time for the rumors to start flying along with anybody and everybody's mock drafts.
One interesting tidbit came from ESPN this week who thinks the Los Angeles Rams, while stuck in salary cap hell, might move on from Pro Bowl cornerback Jalen Ramsey.
He's just 28 and coming off another stellar season with four interceptions and a sub-85 opposing passer rating.
Any chance the Baltimore Ravens would take a look at signing Ramsey should he be cut by the Rams?
The Ravens have committed to winning and declined being anywhere near a rebuild mode. With quarterback Lamar Jackson's contract situation in question, that's certainly the priority.
Baltimore's pass defense wasn't a problem last season, and the Ravens' overall defense ranked No. 7 in Football Outsiders DVOA (defense-adjusted value over average).
But with important names like Marcus Peters and Kyle Fuller entering free agency, there could be some turnover in the secondary.
The Ravens are projected by Spotrac to possess nearly $27 million in cap space next season, the ninth-most in the league. And who wouldn't want to see the combination of Marcus Peters (if they can retain his services) and Jalen Ramsey patrolling the Baltimore secondary next season?
A lot depends on the Ravens' quarterback situation, but Ramsey could make a lot of sense as a potential offseason acquisition.
