ESPN Suggests Ravens - Patriots Trade; Lamar Jackson For Mac Jones?
As the Baltimore Ravens vs. Lamar Jackson story continues to develop, seemingly more and more scenarios for a resolution also continue to appear.
Most recently, ESPN's Mike Greenberg suggested that the New England Patriots should send quarterback Mac Jones and the No. 14 overall pick to Baltimore in exchange for Jackson.
The Patriots picked Jones in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, and Greenberg thinks New England should upgrade already.
The Baltimore Ravens quarterback (for now) took to social media and detailed that he asked for a trade on March 2 after contract negotiations were going nowhere.
According to some, it was the hammer that needed to be dropped, and now it just about ends Jackson's tenure as a Raven. The bridge was already thought to be burned after the team couldn't agree on a deal with the former NFL MVP, and now with a trade request, the bridge isn't just burned, it's completely obliterated.
Would Jackson accept a trade to New England? Would the Patriots be able to satisfy Jackson's contract demands?
Traditionally, New England hasn't been a big spender, and that would have to change for the team to sign Jackson. That's what started this whole imbroglio between Jackson and the Ravens to begin with.
While employed by the Patriots, Tom Brady routinely took pay cuts in order for the team to have money to sign other players around him. Would Jackson be agreeable to such a strategy? It doesn't seem so, but who really knows?
