Ravens' Flowers 'Pleased to Get Some Catches!' vs. Texans

In his regular season debut, Baltimore Ravens rookie receiver Zay Flowers put on a show as he led his team in receiving yards against the Houston Texans.

Baltimore Ravens rookie receiver Zay Flowers continued his impressive preseason form as he proved exactly why he was so highly touted out of college.

The Ravens faced the Houston Texans at M&T Bank Stadium in what was fans' first glimpse of not only Flowers in proper NFL action but also Todd Monken's new offense, and it ended in a 25-9 win.

While the Ravens' was a bit up and down, they eventually got rolling thanks to their stout defense, but Flowers left no doubt over his quality.

He would finish with nine catches on 10 targets for 78 yards as he led all Ravens' receivers. The former Boston College star stated that he would have been happy with a couple of catches, as long as the team won.

“Honestly I was just pleased to get some catches,” Flowers said. “In my head, I was like two catches, I’d be good with that. First game, get the win, as long as we win I was alright.”

Having been a bright spark all offseason and during preseason games, it was the first time fans got to see Flowers work with Lamar Jackson ... and he didn't disappoint.

Of Jackson's 17 completions, Flowers caught nine of them as he was the main focus on offense. Odell Beckham Jr. (2 rec, 37 yards) and Rashod Bateman (3 rec, 35 yards) both had their moments in the game.

But unfortunately, for all the good stories to come out of the game, running back J.K. Dobbins' Achilles injury sucked out all the positive vibes.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport stated that Dobbins tore his Achilles and is out for the season in what is a brutal blow as he was just making his way back to full fitness after his ACL injury sustained in the preseason of 2021 that caused him to miss half of the 2022 season as well.

It was a sour note on an otherwise good day for the Ravens as Flowers announced to the NFL world that he will be a serious problem for defenses.
