‘Exactly What I Want!’ WR Zay Flowers Excited For Role in Ravens' Offense

Baltimore Ravens receiver Zay Flowers is poised to make an immediate impact in Todd Monken's new offense.

The Baltimore Ravens drafted Zay Flowers with the 22nd overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft because of the versatility and big-play ability he flashed while playing at Boston College. And now the team appears ready to utilize his skills to the fullest in 2023.

New offensive coordinator Todd Monken is expected to elevate Baltimore's passing game and Flowers’ versatility has earned him multiple roles in the new scheme. Flowers has been getting reps at all three receiver positions this offseason and is excited about his role in Monken's offense.

"That's what I want. That's exactly what I want," Flowers recently told BaltimoreRavens.com. "As long as I'm touching the ball, I feel like I can make a play from anywhere, no matter where it is. [Monken's] offense allows everyone to be able to get the ball. Just spread everybody out, move pieces around, and get everybody open."

Flowers is not concerned with how it happens, he just wants the ball in his hands so he can make an impact.

"I just want to touch the ball. I don't care how – screens, deeps balls, intermediate routes, shallow crosses – it doesn't matter," Flowers said. "As long as I'm touching the ball, I feel confident that I can help the team."

Helping Flowers transition to the NFL is veteran receiver Odell Beckham Jr., who was signed to a one-year deal this offseason, and franchise quarterback Lamar Jackson. Flowers spent time working out with the two superstars ahead of his first training camp.

"It was good learning from the vets," Flowers said. "Trying to get a connection with Lamar, learning stuff from Odell like what to and not to do, learning defenses from him and how to run routes and how to be patient on certain routes. Working out with them added a little bit to my game, I'd say, during this break."
