New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers Rehabbing Achillies With Baltimore Ravens J.K. Dobbins
New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers opened up about his rehab process from a torn achilles, including the fact that he has been working with Baltimore Ravens running back J.K. Dobbins, who suffered the same injury.
"My entire focus is to do things that haven't been done before and I hope that in the process, there will be inspiration for those other guys that are dealing with the same thing," Rodgers said via the Pat McAfee Show. "I got to work, in rehab, with J.K. Dobbins right now. Awesome kid who's gone through a couple rough injuries last few years, fantastic player. And had the same surgery as me, and we're both, I think, inspiring each other to push this thing. His timetable might not be the same as mine, he obviously plays a different position."
Dobbins suffered his achilles tear on Sept. 10 against the Houston Texans during Week 1 of the NFL season. It was a tough injury for him and the team, as he has worked hard to get on the field after suffering multiple injuries throughout his young career.
Rodgers' injury occurred the next day, on Sept. 11 against the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football. On just his fourth play of the game, his left achilles snapped and he had to be carted to the locker room.
The star quarterback has been adamant about the possibility of him returning to play this year, possibly for the playoffs if the Jets can manage to turn their season around and sneak into a wild card spot.
For Dobbins, the odds of playing again this season are zero. An achilles injury to a running back often takes a full year to return from, and can even be career threatening if the player's explosiveness can't return to 100% of what it was before the injury occurred.
