'Solve Your Problem, Bro!' Shannon Sharpe Cautions Richard Sherman After DUI Arrest

'Solve Your Problem, Bro!' Shannon Sharpe Cautions Richard Sherman After DUI Arrest
In this story:

Shannon Sharpe is very openly - and with great concern - discussing his friend Richard Sherman's weekend arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence.

"For Sherm to put himself back in harm’s way and to potentially bring others, that’s what I’m most disappointed in. Because he knows better," Sharpe said on his Nightcap podcast. "Take time, get this problem solved, bro. Because you’re better than this.''

In this space, we're in no position to know about a "problem.'' But we know what law enforcement people in Washington State think, as the former All-Pro defensive back Sherman was arrested early Saturday morning with police claiming to smell an "odor of intoxicants" on the now-TV star.

And we know this is not Sherman's first entanglement of this sort. He's been arrested a few times total, and in 2022 pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges relating to drunken driving and a domestic disturbance.

Sherman - who told arresting officers that he'd consumed just "two margaritas'' before getting behind the wheel - had his bail set at $5,000 on Monday. He's scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.

Sharpe, the former Baltimore Ravens great, and Sherman, the iconic ex-Seattle Seahawks star, crossed paths in part because when Sharpe moved to ESPN and left FS1's Undisputed, Sherman took his old spot.

Said Sharpe, as transcribed by Awful Announcing: "You brought every other car that’s on the road into the equation. ... Thoughts and prayers ain’t help nobody. I know Sherm. And I just hate that he put himself back in this situation."

Sharpe is showing class here in both chastising Sherman and rooting for him.

"You have a lot to give,'' he said, "and I would hate to see you really, really, not only hurt yourself, but harm someone else. Right now, your television career should be the last thing on your mind. The first thing that should be on your mind is getting the help that you need so you can be there for your family."
