WATCH: Baltimore Ravens' Gus Edwards Continues TD Streak vs. Bengals
Baltimore Ravens running back Gus Edwards scored a touchdown in his fifth-straight game, putting the team up 7-0 early against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Edwards took a pitch from star quarterback Lamar Jackson and barreled through a Bengals defender into the end zone for a 3-yard rushing touchdown.
The touchdown was set up by a 9-yard pass to tight end Mark Andrews who was able to get to the 4-yard line before being tackled. Andrews landed awkwardly on the tackle and immediately grabbed at his ankle. He was able to limp off the field and will not return with an ankle injury.
The 28-year-old running back has recorded a touchdown in five straight games dating back to a 38-6 throttling of the Detroit Lions. Since the start of that game, he has recorded a whopping eight touchdowns over four games and one quarter.
Coming into the Thursday Night Football matchup with Cincinnati, Edwards had tallied 502 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns on 121 carries as well as seven receptions for 111 receiving yards.
At nine touchdowns on the year, Edwards is already well past his previous career-high of six which came in 2020. This season, he has been Baltimore's starting running back after J.K. Dobbins suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in Week 1.
