Saints vs. Panthers Pregame Report - Week 2

The Saints and Panthers meet to help close out Week 2 on Monday Night Football as part of a doubleheader.
In this story:

Week 2 sees the Saints (1-0) traveling to Charlotte to take on the Panthers (0-1) to try and turn the tide on their September misfortunes there from the past two years. New Orleans is trying to get an early division win and keep pace with the Falcons and Bucs, who both won their games on Sunday.

Saints Notes and Storylines

CHANGING THE MISFORTUNE: Week 2 has been abysmal for New Orleans, as they're only 2-8 since 2013. The last win came in 2018 against the Browns, something we pointed out in our first look. The Saints actually haven't started 2-0 since that 2013 season, so maybe they're just due.

DON'T SHOOT YOURSELF IN THE FOOT EARLY: The past two road games against the Panthers have been eerily similar, seeing New Orleans being shut out in the first half. They've had turnovers, bad defense, blocked field goals, and a little bit of everything that has saw them having to play catchup. This can't be the same script on Monday night, and if it is, then it'll likely be the same story for Dennis Allen and company.

ROOKIE DEBUT WATCH: All eyes look to Kendre Miller to see if he'll play in this game. He's been dealing with a troublesome hamstring injury and was unable to make his debut in the opener. The Saints run game really needs to have a better showing here to take some pressure off, so hopefully he and Jamaal Williams will be able to provide the one-two punch to be better on the ground.

STREAK ON THE LINE: By now, you've probably heard about the stellar defensive record the Saints can get to in this game. The New Orleans defense matched their longest streak in franchise history from the 1991 season by holding opponents to 20 points or less. The streak has been intact since Nov. 13, 2022. We'll see if New Orleans can keep it going.
