Dallas Cowboys Source: Dan Quinn Moves To Seahawks 'Wish List' as New Coach Candidate
Pete Carroll is moving on up. Could that mean Dan Quinn is moving back "home''?
The Seattle Seahawks on Wednesday relieved 72-year-old Pete Carroll of his head coaching duties, moving him into an "advisory'' role - and opening the door for the possible return of Dan Quinn, who is doing outstanding work as the Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator.
Writes long-time Cowboys beat writer Mike Fisher at CowboysSI.com in Dallas: "As the Seahawks ... begin their search for a replacement, an NFL source tells CowboysSI.com that Quinn is on Seattle's "wish list.''
Quinn has led a standout Dallas Cowboys' defense, just as he once did as the top assistant for the Super Bowl era Seattle Seahawks.
Quinn helped the Seahawks win their first Super Bowl title, and they nearly won another before he left to coach the Falcons.
Seahawks BREAKING: Pete Carroll OUT as Coach; Could Move to Front Office?
Of course, Quinn is going to have other opportunities as well. He is already on the request list of the Chargers, Panthers, Commanders and more - and the Cowboys would love to retain him, too.
Does Quinn want to depart Dallas? Fisher writes that "on multiple occasions, Quinn has expressed to CowboysSI.com his enjoyment of work at The Star and his desire to "finish the job'' in Dallas.''
But there is also a job to do in Seattle. And now there is a vacancy that allows the next coach a shot at doing it.
