No DK Metcalf, No Problem for Seattle Seahawks WRs in Win Over Arizona Cardinals
The Seattle Seahawks will enjoy Sunday's 20-10 win over the Arizona Cardinals for a bit before beginning to prepare for the Cleveland Browns in Week 8. It was a hard-fought division win for the Seahawks and one they completed without star wideout DK Metcalf.
Metcalf missed the first game of his career after he was ruled inactive for the game against Arizona. He was listed as questionable because of injuries to his ribs and hip and was a limited participant in practice on Friday. When he didn't take the field for early warmups, he was announced as out by the team.
Metcalf's teammates made sure not to let that be an excuse for a loss. Rookie wideout Jaxson Smith-Njigba picked up some of the slack with 63 yards on four catches, and one touchdown - the first of his career.
Jake Bobo chipped in four catches for 61 yards, including a spectacular circus catch for a touchdown, and Tyler Lockett contributed 38 yards on four receptions.
Tight ends Colby Parkinson and Noah Fant, and running back Kenneth Walker III also registered catches on the day in Metcalf's absence.
Metcalf played in 71 consecutive regular-season games since he came into the league in 2019. Metcalf also dealt with an injury to his ribs earlier in the season following the Week 2 win at Detroit. Metcalf has 22 catches for 337 yards and two touchdowns on the season.
Along with Metcalf, the Seahawks were also without starting center Evan Brown (hip) and starting right guard Phil Haynes (calf). The Seahawks are likely to start a pair of rookies — Olu Oluwatimi and Anthony Bradford — in those spots.
