Seahawks Legend Bobby Wagner Released by Rams
Almost a year after being released by the Seattle Seahawks, linebacker Bobby Wagner and the Los Angeles Rams have mutually agreed to part ways, per reports Thursday from ESPN.
Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, "the Rams need more cap space and Wagner wants to win. He will now be a notable part of this year’s free-agent class."
Wagner, 32, just wrapped up his first season with the Rams after signing a five-year, $50 million deal last offseason following his departure from Seattle. He signed with the defending champs expecting to contend for his second Super Bowl ring, but injuries derailed LA's season before it began, as the team finished with a 5-12 record.
Wagner was one of the only stars that was healthy for LA all season long. He played in all 17 games, finishing with 140 total tackles, two interceptions, five passes defended and one blocked kick.
He also totaled six sacks after having just eight in the previous four seasons combined.
Wagner will now look to join a contender in free agency this offseason, as he suddenly finds himself in a similar situation to last year.
