Seahawks Reveal Iconic 90s Throwback Uniforms: LOOK

Appeasing a fan base that has been begging for nostalgic throwbacks for years, the Seattle Seahawks unleashed royal blue, apple green, and silver threads to the delight of 12s everywhere on Wednesday.

After years of anticipation and clamoring from players and fans alike, the Seattle Seahawks finally unleashed their 90s-style throwback uniforms that will be worn during the 2023 season on Wednesday morning.

Blending old school threads with new school materials, Seattle's iconic silver helmets, blue jerseys, and silver pants with green and blue piping should bring the rush of nostalgia from the Kingdome days that 12s have long desired. Earlier in the offseason, linebacker Bobby Wagner called the uniforms "fire" and based on initial returns, that assessment might be an understatement.

Led by Madeline Down, the video and production team built an elaborate 90s-style bedroom including an exit sign to the Kingdome, a blue and green lava lamp, an old school alarm clock, and other artifacts from the era for the reveal. Rookie receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba then rolled out of bed sporting the new uniforms and a Walkman during the much anticipated reveal.

As detailed on the Seahawks official website, the throwback uniforms provide a "classic look with an updated silhouette," starting with royal blue jersey tops. Returning are the giant white numbers and retro logo on both sleeves atop blue and apple green stripes previously worn by stars such as Steve Largent and Cortez Kennedy, honoring the Salish seas and forests of the Pacific Northwest.

From a new features standpoint, the jersey features a commemorative patch inside the neckline as an homage to the Kingdome, where Seattle played its home games from the franchise's inaugural season in 1976 through 1999.

Aside from a royal blue Nike logo and modernized style, the Seahawks' matte gray pants should look near-identical to their 90s counterparts. The pants feature a thick blue stripe with green stripes on both sides that run all the way down the side and solid royal blue socks that tie the look together.

Last but not least, Seattle will be busting out shiny silver helmets with the team's original logo wrapping around both sides, original font on the front and back bumper, and an electric royal blue face mask.

The Seahawks will wear the uniforms for the first time when they host the Browns at Lumen Field on Sunday, October 29. Beginning on Wednesday, jerseys and other throwback-related gear can now be purchased online and at Pro Shop locations.
