In this story:

It is gameday in Seattle as the Seahawks will host the Carolina Panthers in a contest that will be special for two occasions. Not only is it a Week 3 game for the Seahawks, but they will also be celebrating the 10-year anniversary of their Super Bowl XLVIII win over the Denver Broncos.

Like the dominant 43-8 win versus the Broncos a decade ago, Seattle will be hoping to replicate that performance with a win over a Panthers team that is winless through the first two games of the season. Both defeats came at the hands of NFC South opponents, the Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints.

The Panthers had leads in both losses but couldn't hold them. To make matters worse for Carolina, rookie quarterback and No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young is out on Sunday as he deals with an ankle injury. This means Frank Reich and co., will rely on veteran backup Andy Dalton to make the start versus the Seahawks.

Young isn't the only starting contributor for the Panthers that will be without on Sunday, as linebacker Shaq Thompson will also be out after suffering a potentially season-ending fractured fibula in Week 2's loss to the Saints.

While the Panthers are already fighting to keep their hopes of challenging for the NFC South alive, the Seahawks will be looking to make it two straight wins after losing their season-opener to the Los Angeles Rams.

Seattle rebounded last week with an overtime win versus the Detroit Lions. The offense responded to being shutout in the second-half versus the Rams with a 24-point offensive explosion on the road versus the Lions.

Quarterback Geno Smith will look to build off of his strong performance in the win, where he completed 32 of his 41 passes for 328 yards and two touchdowns. But he'll have to square off against a respectable Panthers defense.
