Seahawks Walk It Off vs. Lions in Thrilling OT Win
The Seattle Seahawks came out of the locker room in Detroit against the Lions on Sunday with great energy despite their weak showing in the first half that saw them punt once and miss two field goals.
The offense was much more effective in the second half, putting up 24 points in regulation and a touchdown in overtime. The second-half surge led to a 37-31 victory for Seattle, as Tyler Lockett scored the six-yard game-winning touchdown on the first drive of overtime. But getting to that point wasn't easy by any means.
While the Lions started the second half with the ball and a 14-7 lead, they ended up fumbling the ball away. The fumble was recovered by Julian Love, and the Seahawks immediately capitalized taking just two plays and capping the drive off with a rushing touchdown by Kenneth Walker III to tie at 14.
The Lions didn't let the game stay tied for long as they went 75 yards in nine plays and ended the drive with a David Montgomery rushing touchdown.
For the first time in the game, the Seahawks were actually able to answer a score with points of their own, as Jason Meyers was given another chance and made a 25-yard field goal to cut the lead to 21-17.

The Lions turned it over on downs the following drive allowing Seattle an opportunity to take the lead. Things did however get controversial in the red zone. With Geno Smith trying to hit Tyler Lockett down field, it appears the two had a miscommunication as Lockett was by the sideline while Smith's throw sailed into the empty end zone. The refs eventually called it intentional grounding, which backed the Seahawks up.
Smith was able to scramble and get most of those yards back, but the Seahawks were backed up again thanks to an illegal formation call. However, they continued to push-and-fight, as Smith found Lockett this time for the go-ahead score.
The Seattle defense came up clutch again as Tre Brown picked off Jared Goff a few plays later, and returned it 40 yards for a touchdown to give the Seahawks a 31-21 lead. One of Goff's few mistakes up to that point, as prior to the throw he was 19-of-24 on the day.
Goff would come out the next drive and make up for his mistake, finding Josh Reynolds for a touchdown for the second time of the day to cut the lead to 31-28.
After a Seattle punt, the Lions got the ball with under two minutes with a chance to win or tie the game and were able to kick the game-tying field goal as time expired to send the game to overtime.
Seattle got the ball first and the Lions never touched it as Smith eventually connected with Lockett again for the game-winner.
The win gives Seattle their first of the year, as they are now 1-1 while dropping the Lions' record to 1-1 as well. Seattle is set to host the Carolina Panthers next Sunday, where they will look to win a second straight.
