Seattle Seahawks WR DK Metcalf Continues Form With Opening TD vs. San Francisco 49ers
If only we could bottle that thing called confidence. For Seattle Seahawks receiver DK Metcalf, his confidence and form returned last week against the Dallas Cowboys, and that has flowed over to the San Francisco 49ers game on Sunday.
Metcalf, who only had three receiving touchdowns in the first 10 games this season, hauled in three vs. the Cowboys, along with a season-high 134 yards as the Seahawks lost 41-35.
Now, against the 49ers, Metcalf and Drew Lock, who stepped in for the injured Geno Smith, got into their groove on the Seahawks' first drive.
Lock hit Metcalf for a 21-yard gain to move the chains, and then the pair linked up again as Lock hit Metcalf for a 31-yard touchdown down the sideline.
Metcalf is clearly in a rich vein of form as over the last four weeks, three times he has gone over 90 receiving yards, and in the first quarter vs. the 49ers, he has already had 52 yards.
With Seattle currently in the midst of a three-game losing streak, it was already an uphill battle against a 49ers team fresh off a 42-19 beatdown of the Philadelphia Eagles.
Then we add Smith, who was inactive due to injury, and things didn't look good for the Seahawks. But after that first drive that saw Lock and Metcalf connect twice for big gains, confidence is flowing for Seattle in enemy territory.
Seahawks Inactives: Geno Smith, Dee Eskridge Sidelined vs. 49ers
If the Seahawks still have intentions of punching in their playoff ticket, a win against the 49ers is desperately needed.
But with their backs against the wall, the Seahawks and Metcalf started in a blaze of glory.
