Seahawks Met with Michigan WR Ronnie Bell, Per Report; Late-Round Steal?
The Seattle Seahawks have selected at least one receiver in each of the last four drafts, and could be headed toward doing it again.
The Seahawks met with Michigan Wolverines receiver Ronnie Bell at his pro day, per reports Saturday from KPRC2 in Houston.
Bell had a career year during his final season in Ann Arbor in 2022. He was a key reason why the Wolverines were able to win the Big Ten and secure the No. 2 seed in the College Football Playoff before falling to the TCU Horned Frogs in the national semifinal.
But Bell played a major role in nearly taking Michigan to the title game in what was one of the best performances of his collegiate career. He posted six catches for 135 yards and a touchdown in the 51-45 loss to TCU. About two weeks prior, he tallied five grabs for 67 yards and another in the Big Ten Championship against Purdue.
NFL.com projects Bell as an average backup or contributor on special teams. He's expected to be selected later in the draft, if at all.
So who better than the Seahawks to potentially pick him?
Having proven himself on the biggest stages while having tons of collegiate experience under a former NFL coach and NFC West mainstay in Jim Harbaugh, Bell is the kind of late-round pick that seems almost destined to shine in Seattle like many lesser-known prospects before him.
The Seahawks have four total picks in rounds five through seven. If their meeting with him went well, why not use one of those to snag Bell?
