Seahawks vs. Packers Preseason Preview: Geno Smith, Jordan Love In?
The Seattle Seahawks close out their preseason schedule as they will travel to face the Green Bay Packers on Saturday afternoon at Lambeau Field.
The most intriguing storyline of the game will revolve around Green Bay's offense, as the team intends to play its starters, including quarterback Jordan Love. The 24-year-old quarterback was excellent in his outing last week during the Packers' 24-17 loss to the New England Patriots, completing five out of eight pass attempts and throwing for 84 yards, along with one touchdown.
However, it remains uncertain how much Love and the rest of the starters will play, as coach Matt LaFleur revealed this week that the decision on when to pull them will be made on game day.
"It's going to be more of a gut feeling, I would say, on my part, where we're at," LaFleur said. "I do think there's a lot of value in getting ready for a noon kickoff.
While LaFleur plans to play his starters in the preseason finale, coach Pete Carroll has yet to announce a decision regarding whether he will give his first-stringers game action on Saturday afternoon.
However, in the team's 22-14 win over the Dallas Cowboys last week, Carroll let quarterback Geno Smith play the first two drives of the game, during which he showed he was ready for the regular season, completing five out of six pass attempts for 46 yards.
Whether or not Smith takes the field on Saturday, several of his teammates vying for a spot on the team will be looking to prove that they deserve a spot on the Seahawks' 53-man roster.
The Seahawks' numerous roster hopefuls will look to use Saturday's game as their last attempt to secure spots before Aug. 29, when each team must trim its roster to a maximum of 53 players. However, even with a strong performance on Saturday, they might still have a chance to earn places on Seattle's 16-player practice squad.

THE FINAL WORD: Coach Pete Carroll on safety Jamal Adams' return. The Seahawks activated him off the physically unable to perform list on Thursday.
"That’s a big step for him to go forward, but it isn’t a step that means he’s going to be out practicing yet," Carroll said. "We want to get him in the flow, looking at the weeks we have to build up and looking at the preparation time. He’s ready to do that, and I brought it up to him and he responded really well."
