Seattle Seahawks' Geno Smith Praises 'Veteran' Jake Bobo After 1st TD Grab

Seattle Seahawks rookie Jake Bobo grabbed his first NFL touchdown against the Carolina Panthers.

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll wanted more Jake Bobo, the 12s wanted more and against the Carolina Panthers, they got it.

Despite the undrafted rookie receiver having a superb season that made many take notice of his talent, through the first two weeks of the season, Bobo was barely sighted.

But against the Carolina Panthers in Week 3, as time was winding down in the fourth quarter, Geno Smith found Bobo at the back of the endzone. The rookie did a good job of keeping his feet inbounds as he hauled in his first NFL touchdown.

For Smith, Bobo plays the game like he has been doing it for years despite being a rookie.

"He plays like a veteran," Smith said on Inside The NFL. "He prepares like a veteran. He's one of those guys who, we have to find him and get him the ball because he's doing such special things out there on the field."

With the Seahawks already having a three-headed monster on offense with Tyler Lockett, D.K. Metcalf, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, adding yet another weapon in Bobo gives defenses another player to worry about.

For some rookies, learning the playbook is one thing, but to then put what you have learned in the classroom and translate it into practice in a real NFL game can be challenging.

But the word "veteran," as Smith described Bobo, means that the rookie understands everything that is asked of him.

“He has great football speed, he’s got a great feel for the game,” Smith said. “He’s such a great route runner, he knows how to set guys up, and he understands the concepts. He understands where he’s at in the reads and he finds ways to get open on time.”

Bobo has been largely a bystander thus far, but he got his moment in the sun against the Panthers. Many hope that his touchdown it will be the first of many in a Seahawks uniform.

It will be a slow process, but Bobo will use his "veteran" smarts to continuing making plays for coordinator Shane Waldron's offense.
