Seattle Seahawks 'Got to Get Ready' for Uncertain Tennessee Titans QB Situation

The Seattle Seahawks face the Tennessee Titans who have an interesting quarterback situation while Pete Carroll has a similar dilemma with Geno Smtih and Drew Lock.

The Seattle Seahawks will look to build on their 20-17 win over the Philadelphia Eagles when they travel to face the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. The Seahawks kept their season alive with a gutsy win but now must build on that against a team that's already been eliminated from postseason contention.

But that might be easier said than done as the Titans' quarterback situation isn't clear-cut as of yet. Rookie Will Levis is still dealing with an ankle injury sustained last week and has missed consecutive practices. He practiced on Friday and Titans coach Mike Vrabel said he'll be questionable.

The Seahawks and Titans game has a lot of question marks surrounding the quarterback position for both teams.

If Levis can't go on Sunday, then it will be veteran Ryan Tannehill who will step in. With limited time to prepare for one quarterback, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Seattle will be ready for what either guy can bring.

“Will Levis has come on," Carroll said. "He’s really shown a lot of bright spots, he’s been very aggressive, very strong thrower. He’s quick, fast, tough. He’s handling the system and all that, so I can see why they’re fired up about growing with him and seeing him develop. Ryan Tannehill has been a good football player for a long time. They got off to a pretty even start with him, and then he got hurt.

"He’s been down for a while because Will hit the scene with four touchdown passes right out of the chutes and got them going. They gave Levis a chance to play, but Ryan comes back and he’s an accomplished, established, experienced quarterback that can run this offense. We’ve got to get ready for all of that.”

So while the Seahawks defense under Clint Hurtt is unsure of exactly which quarterback they will be facing, the same could be said for Titans defensive coordinator Shane Bowen.

With Geno Smith still recovering from his groin injury that has kept him out for the last two games, Drew Lock has stepped in and done well.

Smith is now a full go after being taken off the injury report on Friday. Carroll had said previously he was "day-to-day."

“It’s day-to-day," Carroll said. "He’s got to go through today, see how he is tomorrow, and just do that like anybody else that’s coming back. But we’re really encouraged that he’s going to be all right, and we won’t overtax him during the week either. Just the workload being mounted should give him the confidence and the trainers and everybody supporting him that he’s ready to go.”

With the Seahawks on the outside look in at the playoffs, they will, in all likelihood, need to win out and hope for the Los Angeles Rams to stumble.

But the road to securing a playoff spot starts with a single step against the Titans and while Seattle needs to have other things go its way, it will need to focus on its own game and take care of Tennessee ... regardless of who the opposing quarterback is.
