Seahawks Sparked by Jake Bobo, But Trail Packers at Halftime in Preseason Finale
The Seattle Seahawks will head to the locker room trailing the Green Bay Packers 12-7 after the first 30 minutes of play at Lambeau Field on Saturday.
Seattle's lone scoring play of the half came from two players who've had strong preseasons, as backup quarterback Drew Lock hit undrafted rookie receiver Jake Bobo for an 18-yard touchdown with just under three minutes remaining.
Lock finished the half an efficient eight of nine for 50 yards with the aforementioned touchdown and no interceptions, though his incompletion was undercut, deflected and nearly intercepted by Packers cornerback Carrington Valentine.
The primary figures on the receiving end of Lock's passes were Bobo, who had two grabs for 27 yards and a score, and tight end Colby Parkinson, who made three receptions for 11 yards.
On the ground, Seattle was led by running back DeeJay Dallas' 43 yards on four carries, headlined by a 27-yard gain. Rookie ballcarrier Zach Charbonnet had three attempts but gained only one yard, though he did add a reception for six yards.
Defensively, the Seahawks' second-team unit faced Green Bay's starting offense for the first three drives, allowing an 11-play field goal drive and 15-play touchdown possession but also forced a three-and-out.
A 57-yard field goal by Packers kicker Anders Carlson, set up by an offsides penalty on Seattle, tacked on three points inside of 20 seconds to play.
Packers starting quarterback Jordan Love completed nine of 15 passes for 63 yards and a touchdown, while backup Sean Clifford went five of seven for 41 yards. Undrafted rookie receiver and preseason star Malik Heath led the team with four catches for 35 yards.
Seattle's leading tackler was cornerback Michael Jackson with seven, and he added two passes defensed to cap off his active first frame. Linebacker Jon Rhattigan had six tackles, while cornerback Artie Burns and defensive tackle Matt Gotel each recorded a tackle for loss.
The Seahawks saw safety Joey Blount go down with an injury after making one tackle and breaking up one of Love's passes but walked off under his own power.
Looking to finish the preseason strong, Seattle will begin the second half with the ball.
