Jamal Adams Headlines Seahawks Inactives at Rams

With a crucial divisional game looming on Thursday against the San Francisco 49ers, the Seattle Seahawks will rest safety Jamal Adams on Sunday with hopes he will be ready to go in a couple of days, while Tyler Lockett will suit up in Los Angeles.

After being listed as questionable on Friday's final injury report, the Seattle Seahawks will be without safety Jamal Adams against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday due to lingering knee issues stemming from a torn quad tendon.

Adams, who was limited or inactive at all three of Seattle's practice sessions this week, has been dealing with typical post-injury knee soreness. After Sunday's win over the Commanders last week, he admitted his knee was "barking" at him late in the game, which isn't abnormal coming off a significant injury such as the one he suffered that cost him all but one game in 2022.

On Friday, Carroll said the knee has been a persistent issue for Adams since he returned from the PUP list in Week 4 and with a game coming up on Thursday against the 49ers for Thanksgiving, resting him to be ready for that crucial game ultimately made sense.

“He’s just telling you what it feels like. His knee has been something. Just trying to take care of him. We’ll figure it out as we go," Carroll said.

With a quick turnaround looming as the 49ers come to town for Thanksgiving, the Seahawks decided to sit Jamal Adams to ensure his knee will be ready for the critical division showdown on Thursday.

In positive news, though receiver Tyler Lockett and cornerback Tre Brown both were designated as questionable on Friday, Seattle will have each player available in Los Angeles. Lockett has been nursing a hamstring injury for over a month and didn't practice at all this week, while Brown jammed his toe in Thursday's practice, which put his status at the time up in the air.

Wrapping up Seattle's inactives list, receiver Dareke Young already has been ruled out on Friday due to re-aggravating an abdominal injury in his season debut last weekend. With him out, Dee Eskridge will suit up following a healthy scratch against the Commanders and be available both on offense and special teams.

After signing veteran tackle Jason Peters to the 53-man roster on Saturday, the Seahawks not surprisingly will deactivate undrafted rookie tackles McClendon Curtis and Raiqwon O'Neal. Running back Kenny McIntosh also won't make his team debut just yet, as he remains the odd man out in a crowded backfield after being activated from injured reserve a week ago.

Capping off inactives, defensive end Myles Adams will be a healthy scratch for the third consecutive game. The arrival of star defensive tackle Leonard Williams at the trade deadline has left him without a clear rotational role at the moment on a deep, experienced interior defensive line.
