Josh Jacobs Trade to Seahawks: Title-Winning Idea with Kenneth Walker III?

Why do the Seahawks need to spend to achieve a one-two punch of Josh Jacobs and Kenneth Walker III?
In this story:

We don't get it.

Oh, we recognize the brilliance of Josh Jacobs. ... Just like you do, having witnessed the 86-yard game-winning touchdown from the Las Vegas Raiders running back against the Seattle Seahawks' weak run-stopping defense.

The NFL's leading rusher from this past season could technically make up for it by becoming a Seahawk via trade, though that seems like a long shot.

Oh, and it also seems like an odd idea.

First to the "long shot.''

Is is being suggested that "an underrated need for the Seahawks is at the running back position. And indeed, an in-depth analysis of their history with draft running backs was done by Frank T. Raines at Field Gulls of SBNation and to sum things up, it is very poor.

But in this NFL landscape, where running backs are devalued (and understandable so) ... why does Seattle want to "pay twice'' for a sidekick to young star Kenneth Walker III, who was acquired "the right way''?

That is, in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft, with a cheap rookie contract as the foundation.

The Seahawks being mentioned as a logical landing spot for him does not seem to take into full consideration those "double-costs,'' which are ...

a) A $10 million single-season salary.

and

b) Jacobs currently being on the franchise tag means his new bidding team would have to sacrifice two first-round picks to steal him.

There is a way around that, with a more conventional trade offer (call it a "tag-and-trade'' deal.

NFLAnalysis says the Seahawks "could offer their third-round pick and a fifth-round pick in exchange for Jacobs.'' Which is true. But why would Las Vegas let go of its most productive player on the cheap? And if/when they counter with a richer proposal, why would the Seahawks want to overpay for a part-time running back?

That's the bottom line here. Walker needs backfield help - but he needs it in the form of a backup, not a $10 million MVP candidate who is in a sense "worth'' two first-round picks.
