Seattle Seahawks See Significant Jump in Latest NFL Power Rankings

The Seattle Seahawks moved up quite a bit in the latest power rankings after their win over the Carolina Panthers.

The Seattle Seahawks started the season off on the wrong side of the win-loss column, but have since bounced back to win their past two games.

Despite slow starts in the first half of both games offensively, for whatever reason, the Seattle offense cranks it all the way up in the second half. Their late-game heroics are the reason they are currently sitting with a 2-1 record and have jumped up significantly in the latest NFL power rankings put out by Sporting News.

Last week, the Seahawks ranked as the No. 20 team in the league, but following the latest victory they are now ranked No. 13. Their offense was praised for its efforts, but the defense has been touted as the weak link of the team.

"The Seahawks' defense is having more issues vs. the pass everywhere on the field but the offensive formula of running balanced by efficient passing from Geno Smith is working well again" Sporting News wrote.

The Seahawks will not only have a chance to win their third straight against a struggling New York Giants team, but they will also have a chance to gain some momentum on the defensive side of the ball. It has been their passing defense where they struggle, as Seattle has given up the second-most passing yards in the NFL while their run defense ranks as one of the better in the league.

According to the odds provided by ESPN, the Giants are 1.5-point favorites, but the Seahawks have a 57% chance of winning.
