Seattle Seahawks Fall To Los Angeles Rams In Ugly Game

The Seattle Seahawks couldn't avenge their Week 1 loss to the Los Angeles Rams with an ugly road defeat on Sunday.

The Seattle Seahawks rolled into SoFi Stadium on Sunday looking for revenge against the Los Angeles Rams for an embarrassing 30-13 loss back in Week 1.

It seemed like the Seahawks would get their revenge early on, but it seemingly wasn't meant to be as the Rams came back for a 17-16 win.

For most of the first half, the Seahawks didn't allow the Rams to get anything going on offense. L.A. had less than 20 yards of offense when Seattle jumped out to a 13-0 lead, so it appeared as if the Seahawks were en route to victory. 

Once the Rams found a bit of rhythm, though, the momentum shifted drastically in their favor.  They scored just before halftime with Matthew Stafford finding Puka Nacua from four yards out, cutting the lead to just one possession. Then after a Seahawks field goal in the third quarter, the Rams scored 10 unanswered points in the final frame to complete the comeback.

The Seahawks had one last gasp, though, and managed to get into field goal range with just a few seconds left. However, Jason Myers' 55-yard attempt sailed wide right, ending any hope of a last-second miracle.

Geno Smith completed 22 of 35 passes for 233 yards and one touchdown, although he briefly left the game with injury. Drew Lock came in in his stead, completing two of five passes for three yards with an interception.

D.K. Metcalf had a strong day receiving with a team-high 94 yards and a touchdown on five receptions. Zach Charbonnet had 15 carries for 47 yards while carrying the load for Kenneth Walker, who left with an oblique injury early on.

For the Rams, Matthew Stafford completed 17 of 31 passes for 190 yards, a touchdown and an interception courtesy of Seahawks corner Riq Woolen. Royce Freeman added 73 yards on 17 carries, while Darrell Henderson scored from one yard out on the ground.

Penalties were a problem for both teams, as Seattle had 12 for 130 yards while L.A. had nine for 92 yards. The Seahawks were shooting themselves in the foot early on, and while they were able to clean it up somewhat later on, it wasn't enough to get the win.

The Seahawks don't have much time to hang their heads, as they now have to prepare to host the San Francisco 49ers in a huge divisional showdown on Thanksgiving.
