D.K. Metcalf: Seahawks Have 'Whole Arsenal of Weapons!'
The Seattle Seahawks are coming off a 9-8 season and a playoff appearance, but they aren't resting on their laurels. With two first-round picks thanks to Russell Wilson's trade to Denver, Seattle got down to offseason business.
Seattle took Devon Witherspoon with the No. 5 pick and Jaxon Smith-Njigba with the No. 20 pick. They also added running back Zach Charbonnet in the second round to further boost the offensive firepower at the disposal of coordinator Shane Waldron.
And D.K. Metcalf already loves what he sees and is excited about what the group can do going forward.
"He's a great dude [Smith-Njigba]," Metcalf said in a one-on-one interview with NFL Network's Taylor Bisciotti. "And on the field, he's a great route-runner, excellent hands. ... Zach Charbonnet is going to do amazing things at the running back position along with Ken Walker. We got a whole arsenal of weapons on offense.''
Last season, the Seahawks had the No. 9-ranked offense for points scored (23.9) and boasted a 1,000+ yard rusher in Walker and two 1,000+ yard receivers in Metcalf and Tyler Lockett.
Now dd in Smith-Njigba, who some called the best receiver in the draft (he had a 1,606-yard season for Ohio State in 2021), and Charbonnet, who amassed 2,496 rushing yards and 27 touchdowns in his two years with UCLA.
We can see why Metcalf is so bullish on what the offense can achieve next season, and we aren't even talking about QB Geno Smith yet, either.
While many feel the NFC is a three-horse race between the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys and the San Francisco 49ers, the Seahawks have the weaponry to trouble any team in the league. And that is worth getting excited about.
