Seahawks Hosting Rejzohn Wright, Other Draft Prospects at Local Pro Day

The NFL allows all 32 teams to bring in regional prospects for a pro day workout separate from top-30 visits during the pre-draft process. The Seattle Seahawks will welcome at least three prominent Pac-12 performers from Oregon and Oregon State on Thursday.

As they reach the finish line of their pre-draft evaluations, the Seattle Seahawks will welcome several prospects from the Pacific Northwest to the VMAC for their annual local pro day on Thursday.

Among those expected to work out, Oregon State cornerback Rejzohn Wright, Oregon State safety Jaydon Grant, and Oregon long snapper Karsten Battles have been confirmed as participants. While other prospects have yet to be reported, the team will welcome several players with regional ties who played for local colleges or high schools.

From that group, Wright stands out as the most prominent prospect after starring for the Beavers as a two-year starter in the secondary. The 6'2, 193-pound defender, who is the younger brother of Cowboys corner and former third-round pick Nahshon Wright, earned First-Team All-Pac 12 recognition after producing 38 tackles, two interceptions, and nine pass breakups in 2022.

Fans may also know Wright as a "Last Chance U" alum after starring in Season 5 of the hit Netflix series as a member of the Laney College JUCO football program. If drafted in April, he would become the third player from the series to accomplish the feat.

After not testing at the NFL combine or Oregon State's pro day for undisclosed reasons, it remains to be seen what Wright will do at Seattle's local pro day. He may stick with positional drills, but after not testing in Indianapolis, this would be a potential opportunity for him to show off his speed and quickness in a private setting.

Wright won't be the only standout from the Beavers secondary to travel north to Seattle on Thursday. The 6-0, 193-pound Grant, who started 40 games over the past four seasons in Corvallis, will be aiming to boost his draft stock after being named Second-Team All-Pac 12 as a senior with 64 tackles, three interceptions, and 4.5 tackles for loss.

Unlike Wright, Grant did test at Oregon State's pro day, running a slower-than-expected 4.73 40-yard dash. However, he did run a quick 6.87 3-cone drill, which would have been second-fastest among safeties at the combine. He also posted a 37-inch vertical jump, which would have ranked eighth in Indianapolis.

While long snappers don't receive much attention unless they make mistakes, the Seahawks currently do not have one on their 90-man roster with Tyler Ott and Carson Tinker unsigned. Battles would be an intriguing option as a potential undrafted free agent signee after handling the majority of the Ducks field goal, extra point, and punt snaps over 61 games dating back to 2018.
